C H R I S T M A S    C A R D    E X C H A N G E

For the past two years, we have done this project at St. Paul’s with great success.  I am asking for everyone here at Salem to help us this year.  Here’s how it goes:  If you are sending Christmas cards to your friends at church, instead of mailing them, bring them to church with you and put them in the mail box provided.  (More on this later.)  The money you would have spent on postage is then put in another box (marked POSTAGE) or given to me.  I will then use this money to buy food for several needy families.  Combined with sales and coupons, I am able to double the amount of food bought.  Last year we collected over $300.00, and with that I was able to purchase $600.00 worth of food.  We also had enough money left over to give each family a cash gift.  The elders then delivered the food right before Christmas.  No one was told who was receiving the food; not even the recipients.  What a wonderful feeling it was to know that we helped two families have a Merry Christmas!  Won’t you all please help us this year?  The number of families we can help depends on how many of you participate.  Of course, if you don’t send cards, a cash donation is always welcome.

Here’s what you need to do:

--      Bring your Christmas cards for church members to church and put them in the proper mailbox.  Please try

         to  “mail  early.”

--      Check your mailbox to see if there are any cards for you there.

--      Put your postage money in the box provided, or give it to me.

--      Save me your coupon inserts from the Sunday paper.  Start giving them to me right away.  That way I can

start taking advantage of sales on non-perishable items.  I need as many inserts as I can get.  The more

coupons I have, the more food I can buy.

--      All postage money  MUST  be in be Wednesday, December 19, in order to give me time to shop for

         before Christmas.

If you have any questions about this project, please see me or call me at 823-8461.  Thank you all in advance.
